Horse Tales and Hunt Talk tell the stories, and the amusing incidents in the lives of 31 equestrians, from Ireland, America, Australia and France. It is an insight into how they got involved in horses, and in sports such as hunting, eventing, dressage, showjumping, polo, showing and racing. Some of them competed at National, International and at Olympic leve. Others were focused on achieving personal goals like creating a new World Bareback High Jump record, or successfully climbing the North Face of Mount Everest, ironically while under doctors orders to give up the dangerous sport of horse riding! Another was awarded two Olympic Diplomas for his poetry and prose on hunting, while many of them produced and sold some of the best known horses in the world. But while many excelled in many of these sports, all have at one time or another followed or hunted hounds. The book also recalls many of the more amusing stories in the course of events.
Equestrian sports are unique in many ways, as they are not exclusive to one or other gender, meaning that men and women can compete on equal terms. So I am delighted that I have been able to include so many female personalities who have all been fascinating to write about.
