John Francome is himself a legend of the horseracing world having been seven-time Champion jockey during the 1970s and 1980s. A Channel 4 racing presenter since 1986, John’s involvement in the sport has spanned nearly 40 years.

In this unique programme John Francome, in conversation with Mail on Sunday racing journalist Jonathan Powell, discusses his legends of both the flat and the jumps, counting down from his 10th selection to his ultimate legend. And what a scintillating mix of great horses – the likes of Dancing Brave and Oh So Sharp on the flat, Moscow Flyer and Dawn Run over the jumps; great jockeys – Steve Cauthen, Lester Piggott and A.P. McCoy amongst them; and great trainers – Martin Pipe and David Elsworth included.

All John’s selections are backed up with fantastic archive footage of the horses, jockeys and trainers in action to provide a fascinating programme for fans of both the jumps and flat racing world.
