Model Number: 9780911647044
A Western Horseman Book. This is the man to beat in competition calf roping. Roy Cooper has been a phenomenon in rodeo since 1976, when he won Rookie of the Year honors for his first season in the PRCA, and earned the calf roping world championship as well. He was the big winner in the event again in 1977 and 1978, and overcame a crippling injury the following year to qualify for the National Finals and set a record NFR time on ten calves – 107.9 seconds.
He was world champion calf roper again in 1980, ’81, ’82, and ’83. And in 1984 he not only reigned as calf roping champion, but as all-around and steer roping champion as well – the first man in 25 years to win three titles in a single season. Roy is an honouree in the PRCA’s Prorodeo Hall of Champions.
He and wife Lisa, and young son Clint, make their home on a ranch near Durant, Oklahoma. Roy continues to rope and win, and also teaches calf roping at rodeo schools throughout the country.
