Second hand. Published in 1978. Andre Jousseaume was a French ecuyer of the very first order. A graduate of Saumur and a cavalry officer for most of his lifetime, he was one of his generation’s greatest exponents of the art of dressage. His Olympic Games successes began in 1932 when he won the individual silver and was a member of the French gold medal winning team. During both world wars he was cited for valour and in 1940 was captured and imprisoned in Oflag IV D where the first draft of this book was written. After the war, Jousseaume won the silver medal in the London Olympics and was, again, a member of the gold medal team. He went on to take the bronze medal at Helsinki in 1952. Jousseaume retired from the French Army with the rank of Colonel and taught at the famous Cercle Hippique until his death in 1960. His book has an authority all its own and bears the mark of a top-class competitor of vast experience. The book appears now in its first English edition, translated by Jeanette Vigneron
